Read to me, mum - my son's vacation reading.

When packing for a holiday, apart from clothes, tons of toys, billions of useful and less useful things, one of the biggest piles contains books. Nothing is better at the end of the day than an evening of collaborative reading.

Therefore, we went back to our favorites books and discovered a few new ones.

Together with Muminek's friends in "Moominvalley" we have ridden clouds, we have survived the storm on Hatifnats Island, we have been hunting for Mameluk and got to know the wizard who was looking for the big ruby.

Later on, thanks to Dorota Sumińska, we met the amazing "Jerry the Hedgehog" and have accompanied him during his meetings with insects and many little creatures. We have befriended a little mouse and viper, we have listened to the mother spider's story, we have comforted a cockroach that nobody liked, we have got to know a grass snake who is very often taken for a viper and we have held our breath meeting a wasp and hornet. "I believe in hedgehogs" is a very wise, good-natured book about animals, which punctures some common but false myths and shows in a very straightforward way some titbits about our little neighbors. We come back to this book every summer and every time we find something new in it.

Thanks to Rafał Klimczak, we now know what may happen when a child says, " I am bored". It is obvious now that when we look around properly we may find somewhere in a corner a nice, fluffy friend to play with. The resourceful "IamBored" Hubek appears when called by 5-year-old Szymon and makes his life decidedly more exciting. Together with the boy and his new friend we participate in merry adventures, we support him during a bout of mischief with the kindergarten rascal Filip and get to know the amazing land of the "IamBoreds". "IamBored" is the first part of a warm and merry series about little creatures who make the lives of every child exciting. They only need to know that the "IamBoreds" exist and believe in them...

The last book we read, but for sure not the last this summer, is "Buzz Buzz" by Roksana Jędrzejewska Wróbel. The heroes of this very funny book are two amazing flies: "Buzz Buzz" and his aunt, the clever and elegant fly, "Lady Blacklegs". Together with them we participate in a lot of funny adventures and meetings with the flat's other inhabitants: a moth, a spider, a snail and some ants. This book makes us laugh to tears, but also passes on universal values. Thanks to Buzz Buzz we know that it is worth being interested in the world but also that caution is sometimes very important as well. It shows that everybody has the right to be themselves and being different is a good thing; that appearances can be deceiving and sometimes we have the right to be sad. I recommend this book if you need to be cheered up, because if you read it in the evening, it guarantees only funny, colorful dreams – all the more so thanks to the great illustrations by Jona Jung.
