Original French pastry is made with butter. A Similar pastry made with olive oil was known in ancient Greece and Rome. In the Middle East you can eat a similar cake called baklava. It is conceivable that French pastry was known already in the Middle Ages, but the first recipes for pâte feuilletée appeared in a cookery book in the year 1650.

I like sweet dishes with French pastry the most. I use it to make palmiery-cookies with white chocolate called "small headsets" by my children. Today I would like to share with you a recipe for dinner dumplings from French pastry.

Ingredients:

1 pack of chilled French pastry

half a red pepper

1 onion

1 tablespoon of butter

1 pouch of buckwheat groats

100g of Balkan cheese or feta cheese

1 teaspoon of mixed herbs

a half teaspoon of curry powder

milk

Cook the buckwheat groats in salty water and drain them. Cube the red pepper and onion and fry slightly with butter. Crumble the cheese with a fork. Mix the buckwheat groats, vegetables and cheese in. Add the mixed herbs, curry powder and spice it up with the salt (be careful because Balkan cheese is salty) and pepper. Mix them in. Heat the oven up to 180C. Cut the French pastry into 8×8 squares. Put a tablespoon of the stuffing on the centre of each square. Glue each dumpling together. Cover a baking sheet with some baking paper. Put the dumplings on the baking sheet, keeping them separate. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Serve with yoghurt-garlic or dill dip.

Enjoy your meal!
