Aperol Spritz – Italian holiday memories

Share

This August while traveling through Italy the thermometer in our car showed 43C. Though it was still far from Death Valley records, the temperature was extreme and didn't encourage us to get out of the air-conditioned car. Only late evening at the hotel swimming pool held out the promise of respite.

A nice adjunct to these warm moments was the light colourful and cooling drink called Aperol Spritz. Is has the beautiful colour of sunset. Aperol is a light alcoholic drink made with orange, rhubarb and herbs. In the original recipe you will find Prosecco and sparkling water. If you like sweet drinks, you may use Sprite or tonic instead of water. Pleasantly rattling ice cubes and orange slices are obligatory ingredients of the drink.

Ingredients:
3 fingers of Prosecco
2 fingers of Aperolu
1 finger of sparkling water
ice cubes and orange slices

Put the ice cubes into a glass. Pour in turn the chilled prosecco, Aperol and sparkling water. Decorate with the orange slices. The Italians always add an olive on a cocktail stick to this drink.

Enjoy your drink!
