Today I would like to propose strawberries served in a different way. This salad with spinach and strawberries is a real vitamin bomb. It is an excellent proposal for sportsmen and for people watching their waistline.

Spinach is a rich source of vitamins B, A, and E, ascorbic acid and folic acid. Few people know that strawberries contain more ascorbic acid than citrus fruits. Both ingredients of my salad contain quite a lot of calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iron.

Along with the spinach and strawberries, add to the salad some gorgonzola cheese and almonds. If you like you can enrich it with beautiful green pieces of avocado. You just need to sprinkle it with balsamic sauce and it is ready to try. Is it true that whipped cream and sugar goes well with strawberries?

Ingredients:
200 g of spinach
10 strawberries
1 avocado
20 almonds

In the housewife compendium "Practical Lady" from 1939 you can read about which food you should serve in which dishes:

" (...) For fish use a long and narrow dish; the same for meat, but a bit wider; serve vegetables and jelly in a round dish. Serve salads and stewed fruit in a glass or a lily white mould; serve baked dishes in ovenproof dishes rimmed with a white napkin (...)".

Today we have a slightly less rigid approach to serving food. The kinds of plates and dishes depend on the invention of the housewife. Seashells, trenchers and tiles are only a few ideas for different ways to serve food. I put my salad on the table in a very unusual dish. It looks different and interesting and ... I didn't have to wash the dishes.

Ingredients:
1 big grapefruit
150g of smoked salmon
100g of crabsticks
1 stick of celery

Potatoes originate from South America, where they were grown 8 thousand years ago. They were brought to Europe in the XVI century and during the next few centuries became one of the most important parts of many national dishes.

At first people thought that tubers brought on disorders. For this reason potatoes were treated as ornamental. In Poland the culture of potatoes, as ornamental too, began with the reign of Jan Sobieski, who brought back cuttings from his venture to Vienna. Today most of us can't conceive of dinner without potatoes. They are, after sweetcorn, rice and wheat, fourth in terms of the production of edible plants.

I like new potatoes cleaned and boiled, served with butter, dill and cool kefir. I don't know of a better dinner for a hot summer day. They could also be excellent ingredients of other dishes. Today I would like to share with you a recipe for a salad which is great for a light dinner or supper.

Ingredients:
0.5kg of young potatoes
2 low-salt cucumbers
2 radishes
1 small stick of celery

May is my favourite month of the year. The spring is in full bloom: greenery, flowers and sun. It is warm (most of the time), but not too hot yet, and on the market stands we have the first fresh vegetables.

The spring has made me a little crazy. All the salads I have made recently are green. The same happened last year. The main ingredients of today's salad are broccoli, feta cheese and fresh cucumber. You should make for this dish a light but distinctive garlic dip. So that it looks as good as it tastes, serve it in a separate small bowl, and only add it to the salad once it is on the plate.

Ingredients:
broccoli
150g of feta cheese
1 cucumber
1 small red onion
radish sprouts
a fistful of sunflower seeds
a fistful of almond slices

The spring and summer is coming for sure. It is time to leave heavy meals in favour of light salads, fruit and vegetables and get back into physical activity. Otherwise, we again will have to say that our clothes shrank when we washed them Mrugnięcie.

Today I would like to share with you a light green salad. Maybe it will help you to feel in the mood for spring and will inspire you to be active. The combination of feta cheese and eggs might seem a bit extravagant, but it is surprisingly tasty. The balls of melon are refreshing, soft and look beautiful. If you don't like the sweet, fruity taste of melon you may replace it with fragrant, fresh, green cucumber.

Ingredients (for two people):
4 fistfuls of mixed lettuce
2 fistfuls of rocket
a half of a melon
3 eggs
150g of feta cheese
a fistful of minced chives
