Today I have an offer for those who don't like Valentine's Day. Poppy seed cake with piecrust hearts can be a sweet ending for a romantic dinner with candles or a simple afternoon tea without any special occasion. We don't have to have an occasion to eat something delicious and sweet at the same time, right? I think so, so I eat poppy seed cake every time I bake it, even if it is a normal weekday. This year, we will enjoy hearty poppy seed cake on Valentine's Day, but I think I will bake it again someday.

Ingredients
dough
250 g of flour
125 g of cold butter
1 egg
4 tablespoons of caster sugar
poppy seed layer
400g of grated poppy seeds
100 g of butter
3 big tablespoons of flour
5 eggs
250g of sugar
1 teaspoon of almond aroma
dried fruit and nuts

Fat Thursday is the last Thursday before Lent. It begins in the last week of carnival when you can eat as much as you want without any consequences. I don't know what these consequences are exactly, but the calorific value of these sweet things is so big that we limit our sweet madness only to Fat Thursday and we eat less during the remaining weekdays. In Poland we eat a lot of Berliner doughnuts and angel wings, and most bakeries serve only these baked goods on this day. For a few years on our Fat Thursday menu we have had doughnuts and from this year – churros. So as you can see there are many ways to stuff our faces with sweet and fatty things.

25g of butter

Today I would like to share with you a recipe for a light and incredibly delicious dinner. The mixture of fish and my beloved risotto was a perfect bullseye, and it opened up new possibilities in creating more delicious combinations. Because the hardest thing is to have an idea. My idea today comes from Termomix's culinary book, but you don't need it (although I highly recommend it), because the recipe is easy and you can prepare it in traditional pots and pans. I recommend it.

Ingredients:
4 fillets of cod
lemon pepper
lemon
2 tablespoons of parmesan
pesto
50g of rocket
50g of parmesan
2 cloves of garlic
50g of sunflower seeds
100ml of olive oil
a pinch of salt

If we're talking about baked goods, it is my husband who takes care of supplies. He likes fresh buns or fragrant, crunchy bread for breakfast, so he usually wants to get up and run to the nearest shop and buy bread. Recently, when we were doing shopping in the bakery, we said we wouldn't buy any baked goods, because we still had some and on Saturday morning we would buy fresh. I don't know how it happened, but we didn't do it, and in the evening we had a problem with lack of bread for Sunday. Necessity is the mother of invention, and two hours later we had the beautiful aroma of fresh breakfast yeast buns. I don't need to say that in the morning I had to bake more of them, because they went perfectly with our evening meal. Do you run to the shop in the morning, bake by yourself or do you like baked goods from the day before?

Ingredients (8-10 buns)
500g of flour
160ml of milk
160ml of water
25g of yeast
50g of butter
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of sugar

Until now I have looked with jealousy at beautiful cracked cookies presented in pictures on FB and Instagram. But I never got round to making them. Finally, when my son was bothering me, I decided to get cracking and I baked two baking trays of these sweets. Preparing them was very easy, but waiting for the cookies to be ready overexerted the patience of my younger child. It was good that the amount of baked cookies was enough to humour the little rascal. Remember to chill the dough balls. It is the best way to have them perfectly cracked. If you haven't made these beautiful and delicious cookies – just do it – it is really worth it.
